Blair West is supporting a high-growth international manufacturing business with the appointment of a Senior Tax Manager. This is a newly created, standalone post to lead the tax strategy for the European division. The successful candidate will bring an in-depth knowledge of tax compliance and reporting in the UK and work with the CFO and wider leadership team to develop the group’s tax strategy.

The Senior Tax Manager is expected to be suitably qualified, with knowledge of UK / International tax reporting, motivated by the opportunity to develop and lead the regional tax strategy for a highly ambitious and growing global group.

  

The opportunity:

 

  • Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies that optimise the organisation’s tax position while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with executive management to align tax strategies with overall business objectives and financial planning.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation, review, and filing of all required tax returns, including corporate income tax, VAT, and import duty filings.
  • Monitor tax laws and regulations changes to proactively address potential impacts on the organisation’s tax obligations.
  • Identify and assess tax risks and opportunities, providing recommendations to mitigate risks and capitalise on opportunities for tax savings.
  • Implement internal controls and processes to minimise tax-related risks and ensure compliance with internal policies.
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of complex tax issues, providing clear, concise interpretations and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
  • Stay informed about industry-specific tax developments and trends to anticipate potential organisational impacts.
  • Work with site-based Finance teams to provide guidance, training, and support to enhance their skills and performance on tax matters.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement within the tax department.
  • Leverage tax technology tools and software to streamline tax compliance processes, enhance accuracy, and improve data management and reporting efficiency.

 

You’ll be the ideal candidate for this position if you have:

 

  • Suitably qualified (CTA or equivalent) with a background in corporate tax.
  • Knowledge of UK Corporation tax regulations and compliance, alongside VAT & import duties.
  • International experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of tax incentives.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or management role would be preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex tax matters to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
