Blair West are supporting True Potential LLP with the appointment of a Deputy Company Secretary who will become a key part of a newly formed team.

Founded in 2007, the business employs over 400 people, working with nearly 1,000 financial advisors. They offer a robust hybrid advice offering with high levels of recurring revenue and a scalable technology platform. In January 2022, the business sold a majority stake to leading international private equity firm Cinven, providing the platform for further growth. The company operates across three core service lines:

  • True Potential Investments LLP is an FCA-regulated platform operator, investment manager, pension operator, and administrator. In 2024, the business exceeded £30 billion in assets under management.
  • True Potential Wealth Management LLP – FCA-regulated advisory businesses serving 512,00 investment clients throughout the UK with a 98% retention rate.
  • True Potential Adviser Services LLP – Providing back-office, technology and compliance

The business remains one of the North East’s fastest-growing companies, with sixteen consecutive years of growth and expected revenues in FY23 of over £400m.

 

The opportunity:

 

  • Assisting the General Counsel in providing high-quality advice and guidance to the Group’s senior leadership team and investors.
  • Coordinate all aspects of corporate governance (FCA) regulatory and statutory requirements. Ensuring relevant filings are made at Companies House promptly.
  • Working with existing external providers to bring company secretariat workflows in-house.
  • Managing and developing the group’s governance tools and systems.
  • Organising and facilitating board meetings, preparing board papers and minutes, and ensuring ownership of related projects.
  • Point of contact with relevant external Advisors.
  • Supporting the General Counsel & CFO across strategic growth project(s) management.

 

You’ll be the ideal candidate for this position if you’re:

 

  • ACIS or FCIS qualified or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in a company secretarial or governance role in a regulated financial services environment.
  • Knowledge of FCA regulations is preferred.
  • Able to work autonomously as part of a small team, working with current external providers to bring workflow “inhouse”.
  • Excellent communication skills, working closely with stakeholders at all levels, particularly Board/Investors.
  • A strong track record of delivering high-quality governance and compliance support.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and organisation; able to lead proactively on an array of projects.
  • The ability to work from True Potential’s offices in Newcastle on a flexible, hybrid model.
