Senior Finance Manager – Financial Control

Blair West are supporting a leading financial services organisation to find a Senior Finance Manager – Financial Control on a 12-month fixed-term basis.
The organisation operates within a highly regulated financial services environment and is responsible for the stewardship and administration of significant long-term assets. This position sits within the senior finance leadership team and has been created to ensure robust financial control, statutory compliance, and continuous improvement across finance operations.
The opportunity:
- Act as the senior point of contact for statutory and regulatory financial reporting, including externally audited financial statements and tax submissions.
- Coordinate the end-to-end financial reporting cycle, managing external audit relationships and delivery to agreed timelines.
- Maintain, oversee, and enhance a robust financial controls framework in line with regulatory and governance requirements.
- Interpret, assess, and implement changes to company law, accounting standards, and UK GAAP.
- Lead and deliver continuous improvement initiatives across financial control processes, driving both efficiency and quality.
- Champion automation and systems improvements where feasible.
- Develop and oversee management information and reporting, applying a clear risk-based mindset.
- Take ownership of financial control issues, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate escalation.
You’ll be the ideal candidate for this position if you have:
- A recognised professional accounting qualification with several years’ post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience leading financial control or statutory reporting teams within a financial services or similarly regulated environment.
- Strong technical accounting expertise, including UK GAAP and statutory reporting requirements.
- Demonstrable experience coordinating external audits and regulatory deliverables to tight deadlines.
- A track record of designing, implementing, or enhancing financial control policies and frameworks.
- Previous experience managing, developing, and coaching team members.
- The confidence and credibility to constructively challenge and support senior finance leadership.
- A structured and organised approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
