Blair West are supporting Everflow, to find a Legal & Compliance Director.
A fast-growing, private equity–backed multi-utility company, Everflow delivers water, waste, and telecoms services to small and medium-sized businesses across England and Scotland.
As the business continues to scale rapidly — with an ambitious growth strategy driven by mergers, acquisitions, and new market expansion — this newly created role will form part of the senior leadership team. The Legal & Compliance Director will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the business, ensuring robust legal oversight, and driving a culture of compliance that underpins the company’s continued success.
The opportunity:
- Act as the principal legal advisor to the Board and senior leadership, providing strategic counsel across all areas of the business.
- Lead on all M&A activity, overseeing legal due diligence, integration processes, and risk management.
- Maintain full regulatory compliance across multiple markets, including water, waste, and telecoms.
- Oversee corporate governance, company secretarial responsibilities, and the integrity of all legal documentation.
- Ensure robust data protection frameworks are in place and compliant with GDPR requirements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate key business contracts, including supplier, customer, and partnership agreements.
- Develop and manage internal policies and compliance frameworks that evolve with regulatory change.
- Serve as the primary liaison for external legal counsel and regulatory bodies.
- Support the Public Affairs function with regulatory engagement and industry representation.
You’ll be the ideal candidate for this position if you have:
- Qualified solicitor or barrister status with a valid practising certificate in England & Wales or Scotland.
- At least 7 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally gained in-house within a regulated environment or from a leading law firm.
- Strong understanding of UK regulatory frameworks, particularly across utilities, telecoms, or financial services.
- Proven experience providing commercial and pragmatic legal advice to senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated capability in drafting, negotiating, and managing complex commercial contracts.
- Experience in leading or advising on mergers, acquisitions, and corporate transactions.
- Familiarity with company secretarial duties and best-practice corporate governance.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to distil complex legal concepts clearly.
- Strategic, proactive mindset with the ability to operate autonomously and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
