Interim Management Accountant

Blair West are supporting a well-established and growing organisation based in Newcastle with the recruitment of an Interim Management Accountant.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will play a key part in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting operational decision-making, and ensuring smooth day-to-day finance operations during a period of transition and growth.

The opportunity:

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cashflow.
• Budgeting and forecasting cycles, providing timely and accurate financial insights.
• Deliver detailed financial analysis and management information to support strategic decisions.
• Oversee P&L, ensuring accurate cost allocation and variance analysis.
• Manage and develop an Assistant Management Accountant to strengthen team capability.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to support commercial and operational performance.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements
• Support ongoing improvement of financial systems, processes, and controls.
• Provide ad-hoc financial reporting and input into wider business initiatives.

You’ll be the ideal candidate for this position if you have:

• ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification (or are part-qualified / equivalent).
• Previous experience in a management accounting role.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and a proactive, hands-on approach.
• Confidence working with senior stakeholders and influencing decisions.
• Experience managing or mentoring junior finance staff.
• Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in modern accounting systems and Excel.
