Head of Engineering & Delivery

Blair West are partnering with an ambitious and fast-growing software business in a search for a Head of Engineering.

The business is a leader in providing smart scheduling and productivity tools to the hospitality sector and beyond. With over 2,000 UK sites using the platform, the business is scaling rapidly and looking to expand its product development and international reach. This is a new position and will report directly to Executive leadership and form a key part of the senior team, owning the engineering strategy and product roadmap.

The opportunity:

• Define and lead the Engineering strategy aligned with S4labour’s growth and innovation goals.
• Oversee and mentor a growing team of Software Engineers across the UK and offshore.
• Drive architectural decisions using a core stack of C#/.NET, Angular, and MySQL.
• Champion modern best practices including Gitflow, code reviews, documentation, and AI-assisted development.
• Own and manage the Engineering budget, KPIs and resource planning.
• Foster a strong, values-driven culture focused on continuous learning and high performance.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Infrastructure and Executive Leadership on business-critical decisions.
• Ensure delivery meets compliance, security, and risk management standards.
• Lead delivery using Agile methodologies, refining CI/CD pipelines and implementing robust testing strategies.
• Contribute to the technical roadmap and act as a visible technical leader across the organisation.

You’ll be the ideal candidate for this position if you have:

• Proven leadership experience in engineering management roles (Senior Engineer or above) within an Agile environment.
• Strong technical background with 5+ years in C#/.NET and Angular-based development.
• A track record of mentoring teams and implementing scalable engineering processes.
• Solid experience with MySQL or other relational databases and Git version control.
• Exposure to CI/CD tools, automated testing frameworks and DevOps pipelines.
• A proactive, strategic mindset and ability to influence at executive level.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and modern infrastructure approaches.
• Experience with security tooling (e.g. Snyk) and AI-assisted development tools is desirable.
• A passion for continuous improvement, innovation and staying ahead of tech trends.
• Excellent communication skills across both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
