Functional Architect

Blair West are supporting a leading SaaS and AI-first data and analytics provider to the FMCG/CPG industry to find exceptional Functional Architects (2 x Europe/UK, 1 x North America).

This role is central to shaping how global CPG clients leverage the advanced data and analytics platform. Sitting between product, technical architecture, and client business teams, this position plays a critical part in designing scalable, insight-driven solutions that deliver measurable commercial impact. This is a growth hire, reflecting increased client demand and the continued expansion of their SaaS offerings.

The opportunity

• Design end-to-end functional solutions addressing key challenges, including trade optimisation, retail execution, demand forecasting and consumer analytics.
• Translate complex business requirements into detailed functional specifications, user stories, data models, and process flows.
• Lead client discovery sessions to understand business objectives, pain points, and success criteria.
• Conduct gap analyses between client requirements and platform capabilities, advising on solution options or enhancements.
• Collaborate with technical architects to ensure seamless integration between functional design and technical implementation.
• Provide subject matter expertise in industry analytics use cases such as category management, shopper insights, and promotional effectiveness.
• Influence product roadmap decisions by sharing recurring themes and opportunities observed across client engagements.
• Develop reusable frameworks, templates, and accelerators to improve scalability and delivery efficiency.
• Support implementation teams throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring solutions meet acceptance criteria.
• Contribute to change management, training, and knowledge transfer for both internal teams and client users.

You’ll be the ideal candidate for this position if you have

• Significant experience in functional architecture, business analysis, and solution configuration, ideally within SaaS and enterprise ERP software.
• A strong background working directly with FMCG/CPG businesses in areas such as trade promotion, category management, sales operations, or retail analytics.
• Deep understanding of CPG-specific data sources.
• Experience designing and configuring analytics solutions, reporting frameworks, and dashboards for business stakeholders.
• Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable functional specifications and mapping on a standard packaged solution.
• Proven track record on leading and influencing functional design conversations and decisions
• Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging at multiple organisational levels, including senior leadership.
• Familiarity with analytics tools and data concepts such as dimensional modelling.
• Experience working within dynamic software development environments, and familiarity with delivery and reporting tools.
• Strategic thinking capability combined with strong commercial acumen.
• Adaptability and comfort operating in a fast-paced, scaling SaaS environment.
