Blair West are delighted to be supporting True Potential in a retained search for a Cost Accountant, in a newly created role within their central finance team.
Supporting the Cost Accounting Lead, you will focus on controlling overheads across the True Potential Group, analysing trends and cost centre spend. You will also business partner across the wider team, forming close relationships with Senior Management, FP&A, and Technical Reporting teams to aid strategic decision making.
The opportunity:
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with clear insights.
- Support subsidiary and consolidated reporting, focusing on overheads and cost centres.
- Partner with business heads on budgets, forecasts, and overhead reporting.
- Perform weekly nominal analysis and prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review accruals, prepayments, and exceptional charges; support audits.
- Track project overheads and assist with complaints/operational loss reporting.
- Conduct overhead and cost-centre analysis with FP&A and Purchase Ledger.
- Help develop unified invoice-coding documentation and liaise on coding queries.
- Review payroll journals and prepare YTD/MTD reconciliations.
- Complete VAT submissions, journals, and ad hoc overhead analysis.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Workday reporting and finance processes.
- Collaborate across Finance to enhance data quality, controls, and reporting accuracy.
- Identify opportunities to improve Workday reporting and workpaper processes.
- Support development of junior team members through knowledge-sharing.
- Monitor quality of outputs and highlight training needs to drive strong team performance.
You’ll be the ideal candidate for this position if you have:
- Part-qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA/ICAS or equivalent)
- Excellent working knowledge of Excel
- Previous experience with balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and cashflow management/forecasting.
- Presentation experience is beneficial.
- Understanding the nature of the purchase ledger cycle, forecast cycles and concepts of accruals and prepayments.
- Understanding the full set of financial statements and experience of working to tight deadlines.
- Experience of Workday ERP system is desirable.
