Blair West are supporting The Northumberland Estates to find a Corporate Financial Controller. This is a newly created opportunity within the Corporate division, reporting directly to the CFO and supervising a newly qualified accountant.

The Estates, owned by the Duke of Northumberland, has a long heritage and operates with a strong focus on community and environmental values. Its Corporate division spans house building and commercial property development in the UK, Switzerland, Germany and North America.

The opportunity:

  • Take ownership of quarterly and year-end accounts for Corporate entities, including consolidations, joint ventures and investments.
  • Maintain a robust financial controls environment across the Corporate business.
  • Deliver timely monthly management reporting and financial analysis to the CFO, directors and business partners.
  • Lead on the preparation and review of budgets across all Corporate entities.
  • Manage treasury, cash flow forecasting and working capital, liaising with banking partners where necessary.
  • Oversee Corporate tax affairs, including VAT, CIS and Corporation Tax, working closely with the in-house tax controller.
  • Prepare year-end audit and tax packs in collaboration with auditors.
  • Support business case preparation and investment appraisals for new opportunities.
  • Act as the main liaison with overseas accountants in Switzerland and Germany, maintaining accurate records for those entities.

You’ll be the ideal candidate for this position if you have:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification with strong technical accounting expertise.
  • Experience preparing consolidated group accounts and managing international entities.
  • Knowledge of forex and international accounting practices.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage treasury and cash flow forecasting.
  • Strong tax knowledge across VAT, CIS and Corporation Tax.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across different business areas.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members.
