Blair West are supporting an investor backed, and successfully scaling, cyber security business in the North East in a search for an experienced Cyber Security Penetration Tester. Using your excellent analytic and investigative skills, you will join a warm and friendly team and play a central role in delivering a combination of project and support-based work. The role is varied and you will be asked to perform a wide range of cybersecurity engagements in a fast-paced collaborative environment.

The opportunity:

• Conduct thorough and detailed application and penetration testing assessments.
• Perform vulnerability and attack surface assessments, providing actionable remediation and recommendations.
• Assist with client pre-engagement activities, including scoping and drafting proposals.
• Ensure timely delivery of penetration testing projects, adhering to strict deadlines.
• Create clear and concise reports, tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Research and investigate new technologies, security topics, and vulnerabilities, contributing to the team’s knowledge and responsible disclosure efforts.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to Graduate and Junior penetration testers when applicable.

You’ll be the ideal candidate for this role if you have:

• A qualification in an IT Security subject or Computer Sciences.
• Relevant industry certifications. For example: CompTIA, GIAC, OffSec, EC-Council, CREST
• Experience working in a SOC/Security team including penetration testing, using standard industry tools and custom scripts, of at least one of the following: Web Applications; On premise Infrastructure, Cloud Infrastructure; or Mobile Applications
• An excellent understanding of current and new IT security technologies, breaches, and trends
• Good general understanding of Infrastructure and standard network technologies, including cloud and/or hybrid environments (GCP, AWS and Azure)
• Experience of with Linux, and proficiency in scripting languages e.g. Python, Bash.
• Eligibility for BPSS/SC clearance.
