Consulting Data & AI Engineer

Blair West are supporting a UK-based start-up Data and AI consultancy to find a creative, commercially-minded and strategic Data & AI Engineer.

This is a key role within a forward-thinking and innovation-led business, working closely with the Director of Products to develop scalable, AI-powered solutions for their clients. This opportunity sits at the heart of technical delivery and strategy, shaping how data and AI can be used to solve complex business problems for a diverse portfolio of clients.

The opportunity:

• Design and deploy production-ready ML models to tackle real-world business challenges.
• Collaborate with clients and colleagues to discover and understand their needs and develop tailored, commercially impactful Data and AI solutions.
• Support the end-to-end lifecycle of AI projects, from problem scoping to delivery.
• Lead client demos and technical presentations, articulating complex ideas with clarity.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to support seamless model deployment.
• Leverage cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) to develop secure and scalable applications.
• Apply Large Language Models (LLMs) to design novel, AI-driven tools and systems.
• Drive continuous improvement in data modelling, transformation and pipeline automation.

You’ll be the ideal candidate for this position if you have:

• An educational background in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related field.
• Solid, demonstrable experience in a related technical role with a proven delivery track record.
• An approach to problem solving that blends Consultancy, Curiosity, Solutions Design, and Engineering Delivery.
• Hands-on expertise with Python, SQL, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Strong experience designing data models and transformation pipelines.
• Demonstrated capability in applying LLMs to business problems or product development.
• A natural ability to build and manage client relationships effectively.
• Creativity with a genuine enthusiasm for innovation and experimentation.
• A proactive, co-founder mentality, taking ownership of your projects and driving results.
