Blair West are supporting Built Intelligence with the search for a high calibre CRO, a critical appointment and key part of an ambitious growth plan. Based in Bristol, Built Intelligence is a scaling software platform providing built environment clients with contract management, E-learning and workflow solutions, led by MD and CFO Laura Parsonage. The business is privately owned and benefits from the leadership and scale-up expertise of an experienced Private Equity Non-Executive Chair.  

The business is seeking a commercial role model who will positively impact the wider business with through owning and delivering the company’s revenue strategy. The CRO will be a key senior leader in the UK Head Office and throughout the business. 

 

The opportunity:

 

  • Designing, implementing and accelerating revenue strategy, owning and refining the short and medium-term business plan to align revenue growth annually to company targets. 
  • Own and develop GTM strategy, continually monitoring effectiveness to ensure performance levels are maintained. Build and maintain an effective team structure to execute the strategy.  
  • Identify and develop partnerships to drive revenue (VARs, Institutions). 
  • Monitor the marketplace, analyse opportunities and ensure pricing policy and product placement strategies maximise the growth opportunity.  
  • Build a high performing sales culture, with a motivated and passionate sales team. Mentor and develop the team, ensuring ongoing professional growth opportunities. 
  • Work collaboratively across the business, in particular the Marketing function, ensuring a cohesive approach to lead generation, brand positioning and customer acquisition.   
  • Actively promote and represent the company in the market, seeking any opportunity to enhance the company’s profile and proactively acquire new clients.  
  • Taking direct responsibility for building a profitable client portfolio – devise and implement commercial strategies to maximise the effectiveness of sales and marketing resource, increase sales opportunities and conversion of prospects. 
  • Collaborative with and in still confidence in the SLT through monitoring and reporting on performance in weekly, monthly and quarterly board updates.
  • Be a hands-on, inspirational leader with a deep understanding of building and maintaining a sales process that maximizes revenue growth.
  • Drive accountability for achieving measurable value growth, developing internal talent, and identifying external talent who can deliver. 

 

You’ll be the ideal candidate for this position if you:

 

  • Are an experienced commercial leader with proven track record of delivering growth in a SaaS sales environment, and experience in the consultative sale of a SaaS product.  
  • Have a proven track record in a scaling SaaS business, with strong (>30%) YoY growth. Experience of growth in international markets is desired but not considered essential.  
  • Can demonstrate a background in the creation and execution of successful GTM strategies, bringing a strong sales mentality/persona and the ability to deliver transformational growth in revenue.  
  • Bring a background of sales leadership in construction-technology or an adjacent industry. Where direct industry experience is not available, it is essential to understand the fundamentals and challenges of the industry and key customers. Experience of working in PE/VC-backed business(es) desirable but not essential. 
  • Can provide evidence for establishing and leading both direct sales and partnership channels. 
  • Have the adaptability and broad business understanding to add value across varied disciplines: sales, marketing, technology/development, customer experience and service delivery.
